Miri is homeless, unemployed, and her fiancé has deserted her. A lawyer's letter describes an unknown grandmother's inheritance - a cottage. Miri settles into her new home. An unknown person repeatedly breaks into the cottage and Miri wonders what they are searching for, and can she turn to the lawyer for protection now that his official duties are over.
